Studio Wanda Madrid: Fetters helps a fantasy come true
In the creation of Spain’s big new femdom establishment, there was only ever one supplier in the frame for equipment large and small. We ask owner Mistress Natalie about the concept behind Studio Wanda and British firm Fetters’ part in its realisation
Spain has long boasted a domestic fetish and BDSM scene, with club-type events in major cities such as Madrid and even a couple of recent stabs at a ‘fetish weekend’ in Barcelona.
But Spain is not the first place everyone would think to look for large-scale BDSM fantasy palaces like Germany’s Residenz Avalon or the legendary Other World Kingdom in the Czech Republic.
Until now, that is.
Thanks to the ambitions of Spanish dominatrix Mistress Natalie, Madrid is home to a new BDSM establishment that looks like being able to give the most exotic dungeons, past and present, a run for their money.
We knew Studio Wanda Madrid would be worth a closer look as soon as we saw the first photographs of the interior. Here was a big space that had clearly been designed with great attention to detail and aesthetic sensibility, and then photographed with just as much skill and care.
We also immediately recognised many of the big pieces furnishing the studio’s various themed rooms as coming from a single source: British bondage equipment specialist Fetters.
To any connoisseur of dungeon design, large-scale involvement by Fetters sends out a reassuring message about the values at the heart of the establishment in question. A place that makes a point of equipping itself with only the very best can be expected to be equally knowledgeable and sophisticated in all areas of its activities.
So, we invited Mistress Natalie to tell us about the concept and execution of Studio Wanda Madrid. She was happy to oblige, and she also gave us a fabulous gallery of images that show exactly how well the idea has been realised.
Studio Wanda actually began life in Bilbao, a city on the Northern coast of Spain close to the French border and to the banking city of Santander. It is where Natalie still lives, and her original studio still operates there. So to begin with, we must ask: why set up shop in Madrid?
The new Wanda Madrid is, she says, the product of her evolution and her personal need for development.
“It has to be considered that 75 percent of the people that visit Wanda Bilbao come from other countries, and with Wanda Madrid I wanted to approach that international demand.
“Madrid is two hours by plane from almost any European capital, and Wanda Madrid is just 15 minutes from the airport.”
A major influence in Natalie’s evolution as a domina — and in the development of her design aesthetic — was the time she spent at the now-defunct Club Roissy in Barcelona under the tutelage of Lady Carla von Kenmitz.
“Whoever was lucky enough to be at Roissy, as I was, knows that I am truthful when I say that it was a magical place. You couldn’t avoid your role; dominant or submissive, Roissy possessed you in that sense.
“I also got to know Fetters’ products and got used to them there; and it is well known what happens when you get used to good things.”
Natalie also has happy memories of her three visits to OWK (also no longer operational). “There are opinions of all kinds, but there, I felt as if I was in a kinky Disneyworld for femdom. It is a shame that both places have closed.”
Residenz Avalon in Berlin is, however, thankfully still very much a going concern, and a place Natalie never tires of visiting.
“I love its cleanliness; the excellence of both the residence and the studio. But the best thing about Avalon is its owners, Mercedes and Marlon. I love and admire them. They always make me feel at home there.”
It’s reasonable to assume, says Natalie, that she has put into Wanda “something from all the places I have worked, I have visited, that have seduced me”. But Wanda is also very different from all those places, she insists.
“Each space has been designed and created to satisfy my needs. Each room, cell, was made thinking of the most comfortable, sure and perverted way to play my games.”
‘With Wanda Madrid, I wanted to build up a modern studio, far from the monochromy and monotony so common in traditional BDSM’ – Natalie
Our images of Wanda Madrid’s ultra-modern minimalist interiors suggest that Natalie’s tastes in dungeon décor have been influenced by more than just what she has found in other professional establishments.
“The world of design, architecture and fashion evolves, and I don’t like to be out of that evolution,” she observes, confirming our suspicions. “With Wanda Madrid, I wanted to build up a modern studio, far from the monochromy and monotony so common in traditional BDSM.
“Wanda is inspired by industrial spaces in Bilbao, where the iron and the minimal are still very present. Lofts in New York have also influenced me. It is a mixture between chic and industrial, and at the same time it is very functional.
“A ti te gustaría vivir en Wanda,” she adds. “You would love to live at Wanda.”
From this it may not be a great surprise to learn that considerable thought went into the choice of suitable premises to accommodate the Wanda Madrid concept.
“The space was the key and the most important thing from the beginning,” Natalie confirms. “We have changed an industrial place into a commercial and residential place.
“The space, the height of the ceilings, the location, the good communications… everything was considered in choosing the property.”
The interiors visible in our pictures suggest the involvement of a professional design team. So, I wondered, were architects and interior designers involved, or was all the design work done ‘in-house’?
“I like things that are well done,” comes the answer. “I have trusted a group of persons who have succeeded in construing my idea of what Wanda Madrid had to be.
“The main idea of the Madrid project was to create a real space for femdom, a place in which you wouldn’t need to close your eyes to imagine you were living your fantasy.
“With that goal in mind, one of Spain’s best regarded designers, an architect, an engineer, a craftsman and Fetters worked for almost six months, and they made it.”
This has made Natalie very confident that anyone who passes through Wanda Madrid’s portals will remain wide-eyed with wonderment.
“Nobody will close his or her eyes in Wanda, unless it is I who am blindfolding them. It is not necessary to imagine why Wanda is so real.”
When it came to finalising the internal layout, some of Wanda’s spaces were conceived around a general idea of what their functions would be, while others were designed to house specific pieces of equipment.
“With such a big space, there is a wide range of possibilities,” Natalie explains.
“I knew what I wanted from Fetters from the start, and I knew the exact place for each item of furniture. But there is so much space that even the solidly built furniture from Fetters seems small, and that reminds me I have to buy more!
“From the beginning I only wanted the best for Wanda Madrid — that is why Fetters was the natural choice.
“I had many thoughts about the choice of some aspects, like the colour of walls, the floor materials, the climatisation system… But I knew the furniture to inmobilise and play with my submissives would be from Fetters, with no doubt.”
Was the dominatrix also influenced by knowing that Fetters owner John Bannister is not just an equipment manufacturer but also a builder, with a high-level understanding of constructing dungeon spaces as well as furnishing them effectively?
“Facing a project of the size of Wanda Madrid is only possible while working with people who are really committed to their job, as John is,” she responds.
“He works with passion and engagement, and has very good taste and experience. “He has been very kind; from the first moment he offered me all his help, has advised me and has been very important to me while making some substantial decisions.”
Most of the big Fetters pieces were ordered in their standard black versions, but an important exception was made for Wanda Madrid’s medical room.
“I envisaged a really different medical room, so I asked for a white gynaecological chair. That is perfect, for the floor is also white, and the walls are all covered in metal.” (You can see just how effective this choice is at the top of this page, and in the gallery.)
But it wasn’t just the big ticket items that were sourced from Fetters. Almost all the smaller apparatus came from the same supplier, she reveals.
“I buy almost all the smaller equipment from Fetters, except for some whims I only find in the USA, or during my travels.”
Asked if, now everything there has been in use for a while, she has a favourite Fetters piece among the Madrid studio’s numerous furnishings, Natalie opts, not entirely to our surprise, for that same white chair.
“It is not easy to choose one particular piece of furniture, but I may feel some special sympathy for the white gynaecological chair.
“This is because I chose the colour and because, although the decision was not easy at the time, and I had many opposite opinions, today I see it as a beautiful thing.”
Clearly Mistress Natalie is a great fan of Fetters. So how would she sum up the qualities of this British company’s products and services? What would she say if she were recommending the firm to another potential customer?
“All Fetters’ furniture is secure, with very ergonomic design, with perfect finish to it, and can also be personalised,” she replies.
“It’s a serious company, they respect deadlines, there are real people behind the company who always respond to your e-mails, people who listen and find answers to the customer’s need. They are clearly the best.”

The woman behind Wanda
by Mistress Natalie
A comprehensive introduction to Studio Wanda by Mistress Natalie can be found on the establishment’s website. For those interested in the experience and philosophy of the woman behind the Wanda concept, here are some of Natalie’s own words on those subjects…
The Name
“I chose the name Wanda because it’s the name of the female protagonist in the book Venus in Furs by the Austrian writer Leopold von Sacher Masoch. Venus in Furs is a novel of huge importance and is known by many true lovers of sadomasochism. In fact, the word Masochism derives from this book.
“In the novel, Wanda von Dunajew, although hesitant at first, is seduced by Severin’s preoccupying sexuality. Severin is the submissive and masochistic character in the story. However, Wanda then goes on to enjoy what initially filled her with dismay.”
The Club Roissy and Lady Carla von Kenmitz
“There were many female guests and very few were chosen in this fantastic world. I discovered The Club Roissy thanks to its mistress, Lady Carla von Kenmitz. She became my mentor as well as becoming one of my best friends.
“Lady Carla, who was one of the top 30 OWK sublime ladies, has been recognised as one of the best mistresses in Europe. Roissy was an extension of her expertise, style and perversion. Roissy was my school and my laboratory. I studied there for three intense years and I had everything I needed to build what would become my lifestyle.
“I did my best to interpret the real needs of the slaves and submissives who came to Roissy. I constantly searched for ways to incorporate new ideas and develop new games and techniques. Thanks to Roissy and Lady Carla’s trust in me, I have achieved an important place in the BDSM scene.”
Other experiences
“Since the beginning of my career in professional female domination, I have tried to learn from someone who has something to teach me. Women such as Lady Carla, Maitresse Alexandra, Lady Mercedes, have shaped my life and have become my reference point for the perfect dominatrix.
“They are all intelligent women, active, perfectionists who have known how to enjoy their perverse inclinations with freedom and respect. They have always been authentic, innovative and bold. Women who have put their excellent principles above everything else. Thanks to this, they are today the paradigm of female domination.”
Travel
“Travelling for new experiences has always been extremely important in my career as a professional dominatrix. Therefore I have frequently visited events and clubs related to BDSM and femdom. I had the honour of being invited to important and mythical places such as OWK, Studio Avalon, Avalon Residenz, Club Doma, etc.
“I never miss the opportunity to visit BDSM exhibitions, fairs and parties in Amsterdam, Berlin, London, Paris, Vienna… I’ve become very well-known in places such as EuroPerve, Clinic, Absolute Danny, German Fetish Ball, Torture Garden, Club Pedestal, Skin Two Rubber Ball, Nuit Demonia, Fetish in Paris etc.”
Wanda Studio
“From all my experience, acquired through hard work, dedication and effort, there is the woman I am today and of course my Studio Wanda. Studio Wanda is a place open only to those who accept and share my understanding of BDSM femdom and who want to realise their perverse dreams and fantasies related to male submission or female domination. It is a place where the privacy and tendencies of others is always respected.”
Studio Wanda Madrid
“Now Studio Wanda has a beautiful and spacious venue in Madrid. It has the same philosophy and the same rules which have so far given the best results at Studio Wanda, Bilbao.
“In Madrid, in addition to having the best human factors present in their mistress residents, beauty is combined with sophistication and perversion. All these factors create the perfect mix, which is offered to the women who visit us from all over.
“Women who love being served, having a submissive man or woman to kneel at their feet and be dominated. Dominant and sadistic women who value the submission and sacrifice of their slaves, submissives and sissies, who are looking for a place which offers all the comforts that they deserve. Here they will feel totally seduced by the atmosphere of Studio Wanda.
“Studio Wanda is known for its quality, spaciousness, the provision of magnificent equipment and furniture. It is also known for cleanliness and hygiene as well as our excellent reputation for good work and discretion. All of which are vital requirements even for the most demanding BDSM enthusiasts.”
